Pawleys Island, SC is a small, non-commercial resort island located in coastal Georgetown County, 25 miles south of Myrtle Beach and 11 miles north of historic Georgetown. The actual island is a 4 mile long barrier island, about a quarter mile wide, Pawleys Island is separated from the mainland by a salt marsh and connected to the mainland by two causeways.
The beaches in Pawleys Island are mostly private and pristine, and are renowned for its surf. The public beach access areas provide the residents of the mainland ample access and the southern point has ample parking for even the crowds brought in by sunniest summer days. Fishing is available both in the surf and from the two marsh bridges on the causey. Also on the island are two fine launch boat ramps. The historic fishing village of Murrells Inlet, known as the Seafood capital of South Carolina is just 9 miles north.
